OEM Trim
Probably a dumb question, but here goes.
For those who know, is OEM, i.e. new in the package GM, trim more desireable than reproduction. Seems to me that those who are wanting to do a sure enough correct restoration would rather have the real thing. I see full sets of molding advertised all the time, but figured it was repop stuff. NOS=New Old Stock
OEM-Original Equipment Manufacture Repop=Reproduced parts It has been said by some that some of the OEM/Repops are better than NOS. Some parts are not being reproduced so used or NOS is the only source. Some NOS quality is much better than some OEM/Repop. I'll let other chime in. By the way Papa Smurf ..there are no dumb questions on this site...well maybe one or two.  Your question is a valid question and we learn by asking and reading. By the way... and  from Ohio. nos is old oem if that makes any sense..lol...repop is always my 3rd choice....
oem is more desirable than repo parts... |

My opinion, NOS is the way to go. Nice used would be second, than repop. Nos pieces can be tough to find. I know, i have been looking for awhile to complete a truck. Not very cheap either if you can find some.
I guess it comes down to your budget, and what you plan to do with the truck when you are done.

I have 40 yr old used OEM trim on my 72. It fits like a glove....I had to polish it, and work out some of the dings, but I did not want to pay close to $800 for a re-popped set. You can get it cheaper, but it will not fit right. I also used the original metal clips, not the plastic ones. The metal clips keep it secured tightly to the body...the plastic clips allow it to stick out a little bit.
