Wheel Hop Problem

Since I installed the Detroit Locker I get bad wheel hop. I don’t recall this with the old Posi. I hit it hard now and both tires start to smoke them shake hard. Any suggestion on what to look for?

Re: Wheel Hop Problem

If it's truly wheel hop, you must be hitting the suspension harder than before. There are a few ways to reduce/eliminate wheel hop, but they'rea ll suspension fixes, not mods to the rear.

Re: Wheel Hop Problem

Do you have coils, or leaf springs out back?

Re: Wheel Hop Problem

I would start with inspecting the bushings in the trailing arms, and on both ends of the panhard bar.
Or actually, just install new ones since it is hard to 'see' the wear.
Coils shouldn't hop, I've seen these trucks doing 12's in the 1/4 mile with zero drama in the rear suspention.

Re: Wheel Hop Problem

That’s my point exactly, I've never see or heard or anyone ever having wheel hop in one of these trucks. I was wondering if the Detroit was locking and unlocking but I don’t think that would feel like wheel hop?? The tries spin then I get this hard bump bump bump and my son said my wheels looked like they were bouncing?? I'll start with the bushings; they were new ~10 years ago. Thanks Andy
