454 Generation?

I bought my 454 off my uncle and it came from like an 87 suburban...which generation big block is it? Thanks

Gen 4 low compression. Heads are so so for performance. Mid 70s heads flow better with bigger combustion chambers. IMO

Production big blocks from 65-90 are Mark IV, 91-95 were Gen V and Gen VI came around in 1996.
