Moraine or Bendix?
On say a 71-72 truck with power brakes/front disc.
Are there any advantages with Delco Moraine style versus Bendix master cylinder/booster? I would like to hear any pros-cons if any. thanks chas

Re: Moraine or Bendix?
The only difference I am aware of is the color of the booster. The Delco Moraine is gold cad, and the Bendix is black.

Re: Moraine or Bendix?
Hey Charles
Aside from the fact that the same part number on a Bendix was used on more model years then the Delco and the Bendix was black instead of gold I do not know of anything. There really is not much to a booster. I don't think one was better than the other. |

Re: Moraine or Bendix?
I think the shapes are a little different. Are they inter-changeable with each other? I though I remember hearing they werent, but would like the low-down on them.
I have also seen some smaller diameter boosters, what brand/type are those? Are they only for disc/disc? come on, somebody educate me! chas

Re: Moraine or Bendix?
Not advantage or disadvantage as far as I know but you need to know but you need to know what you have to match the master cylinder to the booster.
I never figured out the reason for two brands of units except maybe they were installed in different plants or it was what the purchasing dept got the better deal on at the time. |

Yes shapes are indeed differant. The Bendix has 3 indentations on the front D-M has 8 They should be the same. We sell reman ones from Cardone and they are the same pattern from 1971-72. Thats the ones we have in stock A smaller diameter can be a single diaphram or a dual. Usually the smaller single is used on lighter weight vehicles is all. They come in alot of brands. A dual give alot more pressure cause what leaks by the first diaphram the second will catch it. Used in heavier vehicles A booster does not care if disc or drum brakes ![]() Last edited by mbgmike; 04-18-2009 at 10:30 AM. |

Re: Moraine or Bendix?
The 1/2 ton boosters are more flat and have a larger diameter. The 3/4 ton boosters have a smaller diameter and look "fatter"

Re: Moraine or Bendix?
They are not interchangable. The bolts on the back of the Bendix are 3 3/8" across and the Moraine is 3 3/4" across. I didn't know this until I tried to swap them on my sub this week. The master cylinder is interchangable. Measure the bolt spread on the back of your booster and that will tell you what you need.

Re: Moraine or Bendix?
The 3/4 tons boosters are 3.3/4in apart. I was under the impression that only 71 and 72's came with Delco Morraine with disc brakes and earlier years were Bendix but I just now took an old Delco off a 70 drum brake truck. We only sell reman bendix for 70 and older but the Delco are only listed for 71 and 72.
Damn now I am getting more confused. Last edited by mbgmike; 04-18-2009 at 02:10 PM. Reason: sp |
