Question 2WD Blazer Lowering Kit?

My buddy wants me to find him the parts to lower his '72 Chevy 2WD Blazer (Front disc/Rear drum). He was thinking 4"-6" or 5"-7" static drop, springs, spindles, c-notch? Anybody know what parts are needed and specifically who carries them for a decent price?

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

I have a couple ideas where to start looking, just haven't called yet:

www.performancesuspension.com
www.sporttruckdirect.com
Thanks

Call Wes at ClassicHeartbeat.com. He's in Olympia. Then, tell you're buddy to join the forums and post some pictures of his blazer.

Where in WA are you?

Re: 2WD Blazer Lowering Kit?

I am going with a 2.5" front spindle drop and a 4" spring drop on the rear of my 2wd Blazer.

Front Stock Springs/Shocks
Rear Drop Shocks/Springs
Shock Relocators
Adjustable Panhard Bar

All the stuff is from ECE (Early Classic Enterprises) - www.earlyclassic.com

But Bouncy hit the nail on the head - find the closest distributor to save on shipping $.

Re: 2WD Blazer Lowering Kit?

Thanks for the replies. I was looking at some stance pics on those websites, and came across a pic of a 2WD Blazer with a 3 1/2"/6" Drop and that looked about perfect. If he does a 6" drop in the rear does that require a c-notch kit?

I would. Before I bagged my blazer I had a 6" rear spring and the axle tube would bottom out on the frame on hard bumps.

71-72 2 1/2" lowering spindles
63-72 2" or 3" front lowering springs (depending on how low he wants to go)
63-72 2" front lowering shocks
63-72 4,5, or 6" rear lowering springs (depending on how low he wants to go)
63-72 1, or 2" rear lowering blocks (depending on how low he wants to go)
67-72 "C" Notch Kit
63-72 4" Rear lowering shocks
63-72 Adjustible Super Pan Hard Bar kit

I think that about covers the list, besides maby some nuts, bolts, tie rods ends, or ball joints if they turn out to be in bad condition when you take it apart. We do cary all of this stuff also. WES

Re: 2WD Blazer Lowering Kit?

Wes is... DaMan.
The only thing I would add, is Airbags on the rear insead of springs. He will never regret it. (dont forget the top alone weighs 3-400 lbs) hell want to run with it and without it, and spring rates are non-adjustable.

Re: 2WD Blazer Lowering Kit?

Thanks everyone for chiming in. I've gotta show those stance pics to my buddy, and tell him about the weight of the top and see what he says. He hates airbags after the last bagged truck he owned (maybe a helper bag?). I'll try and get some pics of his blazer and see if I can get him to join the forum (he's just not on the net much). And Wes I'll probably be contacting you with what my needs will be shortly... Thanks

But I think he would like the 3.5"/6" drop. I'm sure he'll run some Rally's on it maybe even some 22's.

Re: 2WD Blazer Lowering Kit?

BTW, I'm not too familiar with the 2WD Blazer suspension setup, but what does the panhard bar do?, or it's purpose in the lowering kit? Is it like the trailing arm? Thanks

Re: 2WD Blazer Lowering Kit?

2wd Blazer suspension is the same as a 2wd truck (with trailing arm setup).

Panhard bar keeps the axle centered:

Re: 2WD Blazer Lowering Kit?

Panhard bar keeps the rearend centered. I drove a truck once without one and it took curves like a drunk sailor...

By the way, the 69-72 2wd blazer suspension is exactly the same as the 67-72 truck suspension (trailing arm setup...)

Re: 2WD Blazer Lowering Kit?

I'll say this, the 4" springs I just put on lks dcvn 2wd Blazer went at least 5" maybe 6" as they are "truck springs" and the blazer has that 3-400 lbs on it. I'd really go with a 5" spring, to be safe??

I look forward to hearing from you. Like stated above the pan hard bar keeps the rear end centered. The super pan hard bar keeps the rear end centered while maintaining the angle necessary to keep the rear end stable. WES

Re: 2WD Blazer Lowering Kit?

I went 2.5 spindles, 3" springs up front, 5" springs, 1" blocks in rear, adjustable P bar, c-notch, and shock re-locater brackets.
