Guage ?

on the 76 with a 350 what is the temp range of the guage (low middle high) I run around half way up when sitting in traffic wondering what temp that is.

Also anyone replace there stock guages with after market ones?

Its either 195 or 180 if that helps
Stock thermostat is 195 right?
But isnt 180 common for center of gauge?

Change your thermostat to a known * and check the location of the needle on your gauge when you are in traffic and see that it stays there, you will know where that * thermo. reads on your gauge !!

Not a bad idea, but my stock gauge was never accurate enough to actually monitor the temp. It barely moved around. The autometer is all over the place though, its always moving.

here's an article on swervin's page where he swapped out the gauges. It took me a minute to find it but its nicely detailed and tells you exactly what he went through to change all his gauges.

If it is always moving around it sounds like your thermostat is stuck open. Is the sending unit in the cylinder head or in the intake manifold

No nothing is stuck open or anything it is working properly. Right when it reaches 195 (which is the thermostat I have) it starts dropping. Back and forth back and forth all day. The autometers are way more accurate gauges and are worth the money.

I dont have an article about my gauge swap, but Ill have some pictures up soon.
