67 custom nose/bed trailer

Ok. I was up late cruising through threads a couple weeks ago and ran across a post/pic of a photoshopped custom trailer. It was someone's concept of a '67 grill and hood fused to it's own bed to make a unique trailer. Loosely like the Plymouth Prowler trailers. I can't remember at all where I saw it but I believe it was in one of the Project Build threads. Can't be for certain. If anyone has seen this cool character and can find it again please Post It Up!

I saw it too. It may have been a photo shopped pic. I know there were a few pics and one or two looked like a shoppped pic. It will come up somewhere.

Re: 67 custom nose/bed trailer

would'nt tow well at all in that configuration, but would be a great conversation piece at shows. maybe a cool gas grill for tailgating, or..........a cool guestbed or lounge are for my gameroom!!

Re: 67 custom nose/bed trailer

I'm building a matching longbed trailer for my '68. It won't have the front end grafted onto it (which is a great idea!) but it will be painted to match and on air bags to match! I thaught about integrating a pop up camper within the bedsides which would make a great long distance show cruiser.

Re: 67 custom nose/bed trailer

Why would it not tow well like this? It would be a beach to backup I bet!

Re: 67 custom nose/bed trailer

With a good tongue on it I can't see any reason it wouldn't tow just fine.

Re: 67 custom nose/bed trailer

i said that cuz i would tow it from the front since the tail lights are at the "rear" technically. have you ever pulled a trailer that was "tail heavy". towed from the front with the axle that far forward would be tail heavy in that more weight would be behind the axle versus the front and would fishtail down the highway. am i looking at it different from you, if you put the tongue on the rear then yea it would tow fine but backwards in my mind.

Re: 67 custom nose/bed trailer

Well I can't see putting enough weight in it to make it tow that bad either way. I alway's like the weight to be over the wheels on any trailer. You maybe correct I don't know but I do like it.

Re: 67 custom nose/bed trailer

would'nt make any diff. if it was empty, the weight behind the axle would be greater and that alone would make it fish tail. does'nt matter how long u make the tongue unless u keep extending until it gets tongue heavy and that would just be wrong. any trailer will do this regardless of length, it must have sufficient tongue weight to follow in a straight line. look at any trailer correctly built, and you'll see that the axle/axles are aft of center. even a 50/50 balanced trailer will not pull correctly, there must be more weight in front of the axle, and even a good trailer that is loaded tail heavy will follow like a mad calf on a rope.

Hey guys,

This is a photo shop pic so the point of how it would tow is really “moot”.

If I were really making a trailer like this, I would use a long bed and just use the front grill as a head board. I have seen tons of people cut the frame and make trailers out of long and short beds and they tow just fine.

This is a great idea! I love it.

Re: 67 custom nose/bed trailer

i am aware that it's a photoshop, and that fact had nothing to do with the debate, and i've seen quite a few made into trailers long and short, and have pulled a few that followed bad and good. debates on this forum need not be negative rather informative, and i hope maybe someone that is not familiar with this topic may have gained some insight from the posts.

Re: 67 custom nose/bed trailer

Hello, Rule of thumb for building trailers. Axle set back from center of bed; 1'' per 12'' of bed lenth. 6' bed, axle 6'' back from center. Has always worked well for many trailer manufacturers. Just trying to help. Larry

Re: 67 custom nose/bed trailer

Now see I did learn something. Whoever photochoped this didn't know he should have placed the wheels off center!
