Frame Question

Howdy Everyone,

I have a '68 C20. I have been looking for a '71 or '72 5 lug frame to put my cab, bed, etc. on. I already have a '73 4x4 that I am parting out.

What is the chance that my '68 body parts will bolt up to the '73 frame? Does this make any sense? If more info is needed, please let me know and I will do the best I can.

I've seen it done but it isn't easy.

You don't need the whole frame you just need the front and rear suspension and rear axle out of a 71/72 C-10 with disk brakes.

There are several threads on here and other boards about doing just that.

just find the front spindles, rotors, calipers, and rear end of a 1/2 ton and a in my opinion a 1973 and up would be better since it is a leaf pring rear end..

I already have a complete '73 frame, will my '68 cab and bed work on it? Or are there too many differences?

you can do it on a 4X4, but you'll have to relocate the rear axle, and fab up a custom body lift to raise the cab to the level of the bed, some custom work to bolt the old to the older.
2 wheel drive, not even worth talking about, it won't work.
