Question Adaptor for an 8 lug to 6 lug

ok i have a 3/4 ton truck with 8 lug axles is there an adaptor that can bolt on to change it to a 6 lug so i can get rims

from what i can tell, nothing readily available. but http://adaptitusa.com/ can do custom designs. it may be a bit pricey though.

Just convert it. Safer cheaper the right way to do it.

A 72 Half ton would have five lug wheels unless you have a 4x4 and then it would be six lug but most 4x guys I know would rather have the 8 lug setup because of the stronger axles.
yep, swap out the 3/4 ton stuff for half tonthe pieces, meaning Spindles and rotors on the front and axle on the rear plus some other pieces that some of the other guys can give details on better than I can.

It might be better if you tell us exactly what you are working on first though so not to have mix ups as far as suggestions go.

Is there a particular wheel you want in 6 lug?Cuz there`s all kinds of choices in 8-lug.Alot of people convert to 1/2t.Personally,if I wanted a 1/2t I`d buy a 1/2t,they`re not hard to find.Also,I like 3/4t trucks for what they are as much as I like 1/2t trucks for what they are.

My GMC is the 8 lug also. There's 2 things i dislike about it. Well 3.
Takes a while to get a wheel off without impact tools.
The large axle ends are just ugly.
Not very many wheel choices.

I have been trying to find some sort of reasonably priced solution for those of us looking to convert, but either i'm looking in the wrong places, or there's not many options out there other than swapping the whole axle.
If there's 6 to 5 lug axle tubes then there's gotta be 8 to 5 somewhere.

there probably isn't. People are afraid of the liability. you put light duty wheels and adapters on a heavy duty pickup and parts are bound to break. No one wants that liability on there buisness's shoulders. I'm sure the federal DOT would have an opinion as well as most state level DOT.
Look in the 4X4 magizines for wheels. I'm sure you can find them, its beena while, but I know I saw some real good looking ones a few years ago.
That, or make it a 1/2 ton and get the better wheel selection of a 5 lug set up, cheaper parts, and brake parts that are actually still avalible.

There's a few ppl who can tell you what parts to swap out if you want to do it piece by piece. I would say get the entire front crossmember... from hub to hub, and swap it as a one piece assembly. Makes it easier down the road when you need replacement parts. no need to remember what part is what, just remember the whole front suspention is out of a 74 C/10.... or whatever year you use.
The rear is the same way. If it is coil, a 71/72 C/10 12 bolt will bolt right in.
If it is leaf spring, then some measureing and figuring what will swap in will be needed... and possibly some welding of mounting pads or shock mounts.

i wouldnt have much confidence in a caliper or rim or hub or axel with 14holes drilled in the high stress area you'd need to drill into
