hello
Hello
I am new to the board just sold my 2000 lightning and got a 1976 chevy k-10. Hope this board is very helpful in the future. I have a question about my hood it will not stay down in the back by the winshield and it is very bounce there also. Is it the springs the hinges or bad alignment? Thanks and hope to be able to contribute the the comunity.

Welcome.
My guess would be warn hinges. Also, check the mounting surface of the hinge at the firewall/fender. |

Sometimes the metal can be rusted/fatiged and it can crack around the mounting surface. this allows the mounting position if the hinge to move/bend when opening or shutting the hood.
I dont know if this is a common problem with your model year or not. It does happen to the older trucks. Just thought you might like to check there too. My first guess would be the hinges are loose at the pivot points. lub them up good and move the hood up and down and see if they are sloppy or stay on their pivot center. Does that make sence? |

Welcome,
Most trucks form the 70's have a bad problem with the hood hinges and theres a hood stiffner kit you can buy to help eliminate this and to keep the hood from bending in half at the fwd. edge of the hinges some guy's just use some angle iron you can get them & new hinges form www.lmctruck.com |

Welcome to the board Glad to see another Bonanza truck here I agree the hinges need realigned. Also make sure to spray the hinges down to keep them from locking up.

Glad to see you made it over here! As I replied on the other forum, I think the problem is warn hinges. I would take the suggestion of the others to put the hood reinforcements on to prevent the hood from eventually bending. I wish I would have done that awhile back. Now mine is crimped.

Welcome new guy. If it's broke, someone here will know how to fix it. And even if we don't know how to fix it, we sure will try to convince you that we know how to. Anyhow, Welcome!
