Pulling C10 driveshaft - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I'm heading out from Denver tomorrow afternoon to haul my 72 back from Oregon. It's been 20 years since I've been under a Chevy truck. I'm no stranger to a wrench, but I have no manual and had only owned this truck for less than 24 hours before I had to leave it. Can someone give me a quick 1-2-3 for pulling the driveshaft? Any precations? Is there a convenient place under the bed to wire it up and out of the way? U-bolt straps or do I have to pull caps?

U-bolts. there is a cross memeber right above the axle.

Of course, with the center u-joint, you can just bring it over to a trailing arm and tie it to that.

I probably should have included it's an auto (350 I'm pretty sure) and has leafs.

I did the same thing minibike is saying...just unbolt it from the diff,a nd strap it aside. Hauled my 69 GMC from Tx to Ohio like that, and then the One ton from eastern PA to ohio. As long as you tie it up real good there will be no problem.

Is there a bed support or other type of cross brace just forward of the diff to strap it too?
