Question tube frames

does anyone know if tube Frames are legal in California. Because this weekend I was hinking wheelng my truck and just destroying it then I would have a reason to build the front and back of the frame. Leavin the middle for the cab mounts. It's a 72 gmc longbed. Or if it's legal just build the back half and a flat bed or somethng to that nature. Sorry for the typing, I'm using my iPhone and really hard to see what your writing.
