Re: 1970 c10 resto(2nd attempt)

its alive!!!! just a bit more work and it will be on the road. I had a really nice vid i was going to put up of the engine after we got it to fire up but i forgot to save it. So all i have is the vid of it starting the first time. So enjoy and i should have another better one tomorrow.(oh and it was pretty windy so the audio quality sucks, its on my phone).

Re: 1970 c10 resto(2nd attempt)

it moved under its own weight tonight, but only a couple feet. i just wanted to make sure the transmission works( and it did). i still need breaks done, and i need a oil dipstick that fits the new style block. anyone have one they would like to sell.

Re: 1970 c10 resto(2nd attempt)

Hey Cory. Glad to hear it's finally runnning. I know you're excited. I installed a late model dip stick and tube on my engine. Bought from dealer and seems like it was less than $20. If your stick is on the drivers side you will need to ask for one for a van I think?

Re: 1970 c10 resto(2nd attempt)

Havent updated this in a while, Im at a stopping point as i cant seem to get it adjusted perfectly. It will idle good, but under load it starts flooding(i think). I['m good at rebuilding but not fine tuning. If anyone is in my area i would be happy to pay you to help me get this thing tuned out.

i never added the vid i made of the truck driving on my build page, this vid has all the pics from my build and a vid at the end.

Re: 1970 c10 resto(2nd attempt)

great thread, thanks for putting me onto it.

glad you were able to release some of that smoke from your back tires. I hear it's dangerous if you let it build up in there too long without smokin em out a bit!!!
