LMC sent The Wrong Part
I'm not blaming them...But I need help. My truck is so many years that maybe that's the problem.
The guy who put the motor in squished the lower speedo cable to smithereens. So I ordered a "Lower and Upper" from LMC. 700R4 to the '83 instrument cluster. The Upper is longer. It comes thru the firewall in the usual spot...then connects with the "Lower". The "Lower" on my truck has a male threaded fitting that screws out of a knurled 1" female on the end opposite the speedo. The other end (about 38") has a 1" knurled knob that screws into the speedo drive on the 700R4. LMC sent a lower with the correct connection at the tranny, but with a 3/4" OD knurled knob that is supposed to connect to the "Upper".... Now, LMC catalog says "Auto Trans Upper and Lower"...but there's no way that they can connect together in any manner of speaking. So I don't understand. And, because I just need the lower, I don't feel like screwing around behind the instrument pod...That part of the cable is okay. Anybody know a part number for the lower that connects to the tranny with a 1" knurled knob, and to the upper with a threaded, male end? I attached a rough picture...Rough, because I drew it! Thanks a lot.

Re: LMC sent The Wrong Part
Since I'm not under the truck right now, and my memory is sometimes goofy, I can'ty say "for sure" the the bottom end of the "Upper" is, in fact 1".
It's an aluminum female knurled knob, for sure...And the lower cable I need fits into it with a male threaded fitting, and into the tranny with a 1" knurled female threaded knob...That's also for sure..... That lower cable is also squished...*That's* for sure!" Thanks again.

Re: LMC sent The Wrong Part
I don't have a part number but look for a 1981 Regal speedometer cable and that will be it. That's what I had to get for mine to work just recently. If I can find the bag I will post the part number.

Re: LMC sent The Wrong Part
Thanks much, MLBT.....I didn't know what to do. I'll look forward to the PN. If you can't find it, I'll search in the direction you sent me.
