Hey guys i for sure want a posi or limited slip
whats the cheapest way i can go limited slilp or posi? is welding the spider gears the cheapest way haha |

welding the spider gears will be the cheapest, but typically dont last long, and wear the tires irregularly... from my past experience. I would say the best route to take would be an aftermarket limited slip setup, or a good used one.......

welding spiders is the way to go if you're entering it in a demo derby
otherwise buy something good and you can have your rear setup for a bit over a thousand dollars

Please, don't do this. Welding spiders is not only dangerous and destructive, it's just plain hard to drive on the street or anywhere else for that matter. It is hard to turn and makes the truck tend to "push" or "plow" instead of following the steering.
The "cheapest way" is to find yourself a used axle that already has the posi installed, with the gear ratio you need too. This is not necessarily the easiest way though. Finding what you need may take some leg-work, but it is a simple swap, once you do. There isn't much of a guarantee with this way though. You can also go with an "add-on" unit like PowerTrax. It goes into your existing open differential in just about an hour or so, but you are stuck with the ratio that you already have.... You can buy a complete posi unit and have it installed. This is probably the most expensive way as far as cash up front, but you get everything exactly as you want, and a warranty from the installer.
