Front sway bar Question

Has anyone used this sway bar on ebay? Item # is 160331430419

For $130 shipped, does this sound like a good deal or would I be better off with a name brand one from some where like brothers or other dealers? The same ebay dealer has a rear for $150 shipped.

Looks like a good deal but the ends of the bar look squished and I am pretty sure that would not mount on our trucks however I am by no means an expert and could be totally way off base..

it looks like it comes with end links to mount to the controll arm. good deal. ccp has similar deals on the bay right now.

There isn't anything high tech about a sway bar. A 100 plus dollar bar won't be any better than a 20 dollar salvage yard bar with new bushings.

What bars will fit these trucks as a bolt on. Or I guess a better way to word is, Bars from what other vehicles will fit as a bolt on? I know I've seen on here a mid 80's-early 90's IROC or Z Camaro bar will work on the rear. But what fits the front?

I wrote an article on just this subject. I included lots of pictures and description. You can find it in the FAQ section.

The easiest source of swaybars is off 73-87 models, half ton, 3/4 ton, even 1 tons, plus Suburbans. They bolt right on. The holes are already in your truck for it.

Lets face it, a sway bar is a big old 1 inch (or larger) piece of round steel. That's it, nothing special about it. They don't wear out. It's very sensible to get a used one from the junkyard (around here that will run you about 20 dollars). Then, the new bushings are available at your local part store. Moog sells real nice urethane bushings for right at 25 dollars for all the set.

So now, you are out 20 for the bar, 25 for the bushings, for a total of 45 bucks. You have a great sway bar and you have saved a lot of money in the process. As heavy as a sway bar is, it wouldn't suprise me if shipping one would cost more than a used one. Why buy new ?

I have this bar and wish I would have got one from a junk yard that bolts to the holes already in the lower control arm, the angle of the legs in the bar make it a pain to line up the end links, just my oppinion but I think a stock bar that comes in straight to lower contol arm vs. comming out at an angle is better fit for these trucks

Are the 73-87 truck brackets the same as well? The frame brackets and the lower control arm ones? ...Is it a direct swap?

when using the 73-87 bars does it matter if it comes off of a 2 or 4wd model?

The brackets are exactly the same. It's a bolt on deal.

You will need a 2wd bar for your 2wd truck.

If you're after performance and are gonna get a junkyard one, get one from a 1 ton, they're bigger in diameter. (1.25" I believe??)
