Redrilling lug bolt pattern

I installed a Corvette IRS in my 68 stepside and it has the small lug pattern.I installed 71 truck,2&1/2" drop spendles up front and I want to keep my big roters but they have the big lug pattern.I have been asking some local guys what roter will fit my spendles that have the small pattern does anyone have any ideals One guy said I could knock out my lug studs and find a wheel with the same size center hole and redrill the roters. What is your alls take on this, and do you think it can it be done.
