I have to take my 67 swb truck on a 8 hour drive and and was wondering if i should keep the cover on it. iam worried about rocks hitting and chipping the paint or even breaking a windshield.

you must mean twoing it on a trailer..

what are you towing it with?

what type of trailer is it on? what sort of roads/highways will you be traveling.

if you towing witjh like a 1500 series pickup, on a standard car trailer, usually the truck will be up high enough that it wont get hit by rocks thrown up from your tow vehical..

towing with my 2500hd gmc. the 67 is on a uhaul trailer

i wouldn't worry about it.

ive never actually had my truck on the trailer...but ive towed my racecar and stuff around on like northern secondary highways up here, and ive never noticed any more scrapes, scratches or chips on the front end of it from towing.

if you leave the cover on it, you may do damage from the cover flapping in the breeze at 80 mph..

Cant you buy like a vinyl for it like the new cars have on them when the dealersd first get them

DO NOT!!! I REPEAT DO NOT TOW WITH A COVER ON!!!! I have seen with my own eyes damage to paint from people doing this... The cover acts like sandpaper and the wind just rubs it across the paint the entire trip... I know people that do it and say there is no issues but I have seen damaged paint.. Nothing a buffer can not fix but still..

There comes a time we must accept blemishes.But,why not built a front guard off the trailer to catch what the tow vehicle tosses at it.Or,a rig up some serious mub flaps to hug the ground.

If your paint is that nice, buy an enclosed trailer, otherwise leave it naked....Drive slower, avoid gravel like the plauge, and don't tour the asphalt plants along the way and it will be fine.
