Re: Before and After Wheel change

Thanks again for the complements and feedback! I am struggling with the height. According to the receipts from the PO, the front is dropped 2" (springs) and the rear is dropped 3". I considered replacing the front springs with the correct springs and adding internal air-springs to the rear for adjustability.

Any thoughts???

Re: Before and After Wheel change

I have stock wheel covers that are waiting to go on my truck.
Right now my truck sits on new springs, stock front and 2" drop in the back. I'm not sure how it will sit with the stock tires but I was considering putting a 2" drop on the front and after seeing your picture that might be the way I go. Can you take a good side picture of your truck? That way I could adjust the height in photoshop

Desertrat

This is the only photo I have that is close to a decent side view. If possible, I will take a few more this afternoon. This photo makes the front look closer to stock height???

Re: Before and After Wheel change

Hey Dan, first off that thing looks amazing with the stock full caps on there. And I like it with the lower stance.

Can you post specs on the steelies and your tires? Also what color did you paint the wheels?

Dan
At that angle it would be to hard to get an accurate idea of what it would look like at stock hieght, like you said "This photo makes the front look closer to stock height"

But I do like it, Thanks for posting that picture!

Re: Before and After Wheel change

Here is a better side-view photo (sorry for the support post). Should I put stock springs on front and rear? I will be removing the rear sway bar and the chrome exhaust tips.

Re: Before and After Wheel change

Man that thing is beautiful....

If it were me, I would leave it as it sits. I feel that even with the drop it's not enough to notice (at least from these pics). I do see your quandry (sp?) as it is such an original truck, but take a chapter from my truck... it's all unboltable.

Re: Before and After Wheel change

looks good to me. It is such a subtle drop. Hopefully Desertrat can work his PS magic so you can have a side by side comparison to help you with your decision.

Re: Before and After Wheel change

72BlckButy - The wheels are GM 15" x 6" stock steel wheels. I sanded then painted the wheels with '72 GM white (forget the paint code, something like 5xx). The tires are 235/75/15 white stripe radial (closest to the L-78-15 stock tire size). They drive great!!

Re: Before and After Wheel change

After seeing side profile pics of your amazingly beautiful almost totally stock appearing truck. I see your dilemma. It's so stock that the few none stock items are bugging you. At first my thought's were leave it at that height. It does look right. But if you go the extra mile to bring it to it's former glory, then yes, imo, go with stock springs, pull the chrome tips and swaybar. Stock rocks... I like the bed rails also, are they stock? If not, would you pull those as well. Just curious. What ever choices you make, your truck will always be super nice.

Re: Before and After Wheel change

This is a tough call. I say don't worry about the ride height yet. Maybe just get ride of the exhaust tips and sway bar first.
The first picture is your current ride height.
The second is roughly 2" lift all around from your current ride height..

Re: Before and After Wheel change

Wow Desertrat your photo skills are frightening (In a Good Way)!

First you are able to remove the ugly support post I had in the photo, next you remove the sway-bar and exhaust tip. Lastly you raise the truck 2", which looks AWESOME!!

You even removed the control joints in my concrete floor!
