V-8 267 motor

alright i have the chance to buy a complete running 267 for CHEAP. I'm not asking about how to build it up or if a bigger motor is better, I already know the answers to that. I'm just curious if this motor would have enough power to move my 64? Its only gonna be used as my "oh, sh*t" motor in case something happens to my 350. and it would only be ran for a week or two while rebuilding the 350. The stock v-6's put out as much HP as it does so I think it'd be fine, but you never know....

Is this an early 80's 267?

Well, look at it this way, a majority of these trucks came with 230 and 250 inch engines and they did fine.

The base V8 engine 4.4L 267 cu in V8 115 hp and was the standard engine for station wagons. It will drive your truck, but won't be much better than a bone stock straight six. You won't be going 75 on the highway and it'll take you a long time to get up to that speed.

That was my thought.

I'll make sure not to plan on racing any rice rockets if I have to motor in although most of the Honda's around here cant do 75 on the highway either.... hahaha, well its not intended to be used for performance anyways, just a cheap quick replacement just in case....

Yep - and if its got that little Rochester 2-barrel on it - it'll get good mileage too.

Re: V-8 267 motor

Ya, I saw in another forum where the guy said he was getting 18-22 mpg. MUCH better than the 13-15 I'm getting now... a 46% increase in mileage? 374 miles on a tank vs. 255.... wow! Too bad I like speed and power or i'd throw it in there instead of the 350!

Re: V-8 267 motor

My Dad's '78 Chevy station wagon had that engine. Total boat anchor, but if it runs.....what the hell!!!! You could always add the supercharger later.
