sm 465 problems.

I've got a '77 model sm465 with np 205. i was having a problem with the transmission jumping out of 2 and 3 gear. i first replaced the shift forks and detent balls and springs. this stopped third from jumping out. But second gear still jumps out, but it only does it when you let off the gas. i replaced the synchronizer keys and springs for the hub and this didn't help. anyone have any idea why it jumps out of gear? it seems to go into gear fine and stays in unless you let of the gas. it's like it doesn't go into gear fully. Any Ideas?

Re: sm 465 problems.

Anahiem Gear has a coller that fits in the space between the third and fourth gear that replaces the snap-rings. I dont think it's an expencive part but you have to tear the trans all the way down to replace it.

I put one of these collars in when I had my trany out. Not hard to do. The article xbanone quotes gives all the info on this well known problem.
