C4 Corvette IRS Clean-up before install, I need your opinions...
I have a complete front and rear suspension from a 94 corvette that I will soon be putting in my 84 GMC swb. Nate at Porterbuilt is making me a C4 Dropmember for the front. I am working on cleaning up these parts and grinding down the casting lines that are on every edge. I also had the brake rotors powdercoated black and turned.
I do plan to have a build thread once I get started with the dropmember. I was hoping to get some opinions on the look of the beadblasted rear knuckle that you see in the pic below. I plan to blast all of the aluminum parts and clear coat them. I like the look a lot and for the money it beats silver powdercoat or paint. Less materials equals less cost and I will probably be able to blast the parts for free at a friends shop. Changing the truck over from the prostreet setup that it is now to full air ride, c4 dropmember, c4 IRS 4 link with cantilevered air bags, 22" wheels on all 4 and hopefully Accuair for management system.

Sounds Awesome! The parts look really good too. I really like how the rotor came out. Oh, and the knuckle would be great looking just like that.

I thought that the knuckle was painted or powdercoated that color, could have fooled me. Looks awesome!

Funny, I was just doing this same thing tonite. Get ready to put in some time knocking down the casting flash. I have been using an angle grinder/flap wheel, palm sander and a few different size/shape files. I say clear 'em after blasting- that's my plan...

I would do a test piece before you make your decision. It looks great now, but I have clearcoted raw pieces before, and the become blotchy or mottled looking.

That's a good idea, we tried some rattle-can clear that we found at the shop but it seemed to be a satin clear so it went on shiny but then dried and disappeared. We need to try it with the right clear.
