292 lower thermostat housing availability
Is this available anywhere? I don't care if it is the correct year, because my inline 6 isn't anyway, does anyone still sell this or is it junkyard diving adventure time. I have a little leak that I don't want to turn into a big leak.

His 292 is totally different. This housing he wants bolts to the front of the head.

The 292 one is even different from the 250. It has another outlet on it for the upper bypass hose.

Re: 292 lower thermostat housing availability
Damn, I was afraid of that, pull a part and the welder down the street will get a chance to earn some business. It appears cracked with a jb weld repair right now. 50 bucks on ebay is more then I can stomach. I am already 500 bucks underwater with only 800 in the thing! On a bright note it now stops on a dime, and the oil leak is much improved, drips instead of pours now.

Re: 292 lower thermostat housing availability
The part he needs doesnt have a neck on it at all.
It is a cast piece that bolts to the front of the cylinder head. It has an opning on top of it for the thermostat housing (angled by the way), and two bungs for hoses, one heater and one bypass. It's specific to 292 engines only.

Re: 292 lower thermostat housing availability
Great back up , TX.
IIRC, I found a GM part number on the top half of my 292's therm housing assy. Does the lower half have a part number? GM p/n often cross at the parts store. Anybody have a 292 lower housing off the engine to look for a p/n?
