Re: Two-piece drive shaft phasing

Hey Guys,

I wanted to bring this back to the top, and don't mean to hi-jack this thread, but I think it applies?!?!?
I stopped by the shop that balanced the driveshaft and installed the carrier bearing....he looked at it again and said that he knew it was 1/4 turn out, but said that is how some of them came from the factory?!?!....
I really didn't notice any vibrations while driving it home, but I can't say there isn't one.....ugh....should I take it to another shop and get it in phase, or should it be okay??

Thanks for any input!!!

Re: Two-piece drive shaft phasing

Geoff, just for peace of mind take it to another D/S shop and let them give you a second opinion.....

Re: Two-piece drive shaft phasing

some 1st gen camaros were 15* out of phase. i cant imagine a ds shop would leave the shaft out of phase when they were going to ballance anyways. their are a ton of people that think they know how to build a driveline, most of them dont have a clue.
ive seen mechanics SLIDE a driveshaft apart get the yokes out of phase with a blind spline then use a BFH to BEAT the driveshaft back together, ruining several expensive pieces of the ds.
