1955-59 leg room

Any of you guys with dash pods under your dash have any clearance issues? Im building one right now and it's 4 inches thick. The picture below is just for reference.

No issues here but I am vertically challenged (5'-6"). This photo shows the final mockup for the seat height, no knee room issues.

I'm 6' and have no problem with leg room. I made my dash extension 3'' and angled it.

Re: 1955-59 leg room

I'm 6'1" (on a good day") have been driving these years for over 10 years. I have no problem with leg room either. I haven't driven one with a dash extension but I can't imagine there being a problem with the room available. Most damn comfortable truck I've ever driven. And I drive an '06 Silverado with every option available!!!

Re: 1955-59 leg room

So I decided to just go with making it today and this is what I have so far. I was able to get scrap stainless in just the right sizes.

Re: 1955-59 leg room

Thanks Kim, Im still going to have to weld some bracing ribs in the back to keep it stiff and then eventually cut a hole out for the steering column. Maybe then Ill take the whole thing to the buffing wheel and make a mirror out of it.
