How much trouble is involved in replacing my 4 spd. Muncie with a Tremec 5 or 6 spd.? I know the Summit 5's will handle up to 600 lb ft of torq. So what all will I need?? Thanks, Mike

Re: 4 speed to 5 or 6??
Tremec's use the fine spline clutch disc. I think you need a yoke, and some crossmember work... maybe more. Wish I was doing the same thing!

Re: 4 speed to 5 or 6??
Getting ready to build a 383 to around 400 hp, then run more boost on the SC. I need a trans to handle some torq. Do the Tremec's need the use of a slave cylinder or will they hook up like my Muncie??

Quote:
Nope, with a Tremec, you can use your same bellhousing and clutch (provided it's a fine spline...) |

Tremec TKO has been in the truck for several years now. Here are some thread links.

Re: 4 speed to 5 or 6??
I have a TKO 500 in my 69, with a BBC. I used a Muncie bellhousing, Centerforce clutch and hydraulic throwout bearing - had a turbo 400 before. your muncie to tremec swap will be a piece of cake. I used www.standardtransmission.com and they were awesome. Their tech/sales department knows their stuff and are great to work with. I tried calling keisler, D&D, and some other of the people that sell their tremec 'kits'. No one even came close to the service I got from the guys at standard transmission.
