Progress on the '66

I finally installed that trasmission I had laying on my shop floor for 2 years (700R4) along with a good used 5.7l from a good friend and the truck is a daily driver again!!

I thought I would celebrate the occation by giving her a fresh coat of rattle can primer so she won't look sooo bad. I figured what the heck, I'm throwing away everything except the bed anyway so I won't have to strip it all off.

Then My good friend John came over with a couple of racks-o-pork and we had nothing better to do but wait for the ribs to cook, so we painted the upper cab cream.

About the tranny install pics - let's just say it was a late night and no one was in the mood for pictures.....

Besides, it took me 3 weeks after the initial 'stab' to get it done. I had to make some uh, body modifications?

Yes it'll be at the meet! I'm pulling my vintage Airstream trailer down there as well.

Really? It looks pretty decent, or is it full of mud?

Full of mud, dents & rust! The hood & doors are rust ridden freebee throwaways I stuck on there while I restore the originals, The cab isn't too bad, but needs the usual floor rot repaired - I have a spare cab that I restored and did a big back window conversion on that's ready for paint.

The header panel is dented pretty good and I have a spare that's ready for paint, I have a new re-pop chrome bumper & "fitted" bumper guards, spare inner fenders, core support & eng. comp. tin all restored, cleaned and POR15'ed. The floppy fenders that you see are being replaced by a brand new set from Classic.
