underbed gas tank spcing

Question for those who have moved their Gas tank under the bed. Is there any difference in the bed to frame clearance between a steel bed and a wood bed? I have a wooden bed and have 2 1/4 inches of space for the filler tube. By my calculations this will be plenty of room to route the tube over the frame and out to the outer bed panel, where I will put the filler door/opening. Am I right? Has anyone done this? I know I'll have to make room on the inner panel and floor for the filler tube, but I have a plan for that too. Through the bed floor filler is not an option since I use the truck for hauling stuff. Another question is: how far will a blazer tank hang below the bottom of the frame rail? I just want an idea so I can visualize what it will look like when done. Any input /insight greatly appreciated. Cnut

I can answer your last Q... I don't think they hang low at all if you have a bumper.
