Re: seat belts

That makes 2 of us. I orignally built my truck before I had kids so I took them out and tossed them but now its time to put belts in it so the kids can go along.

Re: seat belts

I got the ones from LMC. They bolt to the floor and just stick threw where ever you want them to .

Re: seat belts

in the 01-06 chevy trucks the belt is biult into the seat and i think the latch just bolts to the floor, for me this is the easiest becuase i do not have to cut any metal.

Re: seat belts

When adding seat belts to a vehicle that wasn't originally equipped, it is a good idea to add a piece of steel reinforcement on the bottom side of the floor where the seat belt bolt goes thru the floor. Similar to what the factory did. It doesn't take a big piece, just something to give more surface area so the bolts don't just pull thru the floor in the event of a crash

I agree with the reinforcing. I made rectangles for under the floor and tipped the very end of the corners up 90° to create a bite under the floor. I used flat squares in b-pillar for upper belt mounts. I used Late 80s early 90's s-10 3 point belts. I have buckets in my 60 and the receiver side had a hard plastic casing that kept them vertical next to the seat. If you are using mid-90s full size chevy PU Bench or buckets, use belts from early 90's chev trucks. Bench seats will need the non-supported receiver side as they go through the middle of the bench.

I had that attitude once.... and then I saw what happened when my sister ate the steering wheel of a '76 Caprice after a semi ran a stop sign and pulled out in front of her. She survived, but her face was busted up bad, lost 4 teeth and had over 100 stitches inside her mouth. I've worn seat belts ever since and so has she.

Re: seat belts

I carry my kids in my truck, I won't take chances. Was hit head on by a drunk and he was in a half ton PU.... Belts saved my whole family's life. I too feel weird w/o them.

Also, the problem I have with OEM salvage belts is limited color choice. A good upholstery shop can replace the belt material with new nylon in a variety of colors.

Here is a pic of the way I bolted my seats down with builtin seat belts in the seats. I don't know the name of them. The are used in unistrut for commercial electrical and plumbing to hold pipes up in the ceiling. Precut and already have the hole in them.
