Brake shoe size????

Just picked up a 69 C10 with 44000 miles, and I need to put brakes in it.When my parts guy pulls up the shoe info it comes up with 2 shoe sizes...is there any way of knowing what size it has short of taking off the wheels and drums? And are both front and rears the same width?CJ.

Re: Brake shoe size????

if you have plans on doing the brakes dont you think it would be a wise move to remove the drums and to check everything so as to limit the number of trips back anf forth to the parts store???

I'm fairly certien it's the smaller ones.
If you have the $$, then get both sets, and return what ever you don't use.

I agree with cdowns. If you get the shoes and find a leaking wheel cylinder then you get to make another run to the PS.You may also need to have your drums turned. It's better to know before you start.

Re: Brake shoe size????

I also recommend pulling the drums before going shopping. I would have saved myself some hassles if I had done that with my '71. I went to do the brakes and pulled off the drums to find leaking wheel cylinders and axle seals. Had to slap it back together and make another trip to the store.
