shift knob

I got my short shifter for my blazer but can not seem to get the old black knob off the old shifter anyone have this problem before....

heat it with a little propane torch down on one of the bends away from the knob about two inchs down.heat slow because if you get it to hot the knob melts.heat for a little bit then stop and wait a few seconds, while pulling on the knob. the heat will transfer up the shift arm while your waiting and start to heat the knob allowing it to loosen and pull off. good luck hope this helps
