292 swap for v8
Hello everyone, My 292 finally went and I am in the process of dropping in a freshly rebuilt 1986 305. I've read that the towers and mounts are different specificly to a 292.What do I need for mounts? will it bolt right up with my 3 speed? Also I've heard an hei distributor will not fit in a 67 on a small block is this true? thanks for all the help, I would be lost with out all your advice over the years.

Re: 292 swap for v8
You need the right side engine tower. The left one will work fine. Just unbolt the current engine mounts off of the 292 and bolt them to the small block. They interchange.
You are going to need a flywheel for the small block. The 3 speed will bolt straight up to the engine block. An HEI will fit fine. You are going to need a screw in pivot ball for the clutch linkage.

Thanks for all the help Kevin, I really appreciate it. I've never changed an engine before. Found a tower today and working on the flywheel for payday -cheers
