Project---wish us luck
Starting a father sons build with my 9 and 12 year old sons.
Started out with a 72 4wd blazer body and chassis with a 6 inch suspension, 3 inch body lift sitting on new 38.5 x 16 swampers on 15 x 15 steel rims. Have a tranny and t-case but no motor. We need pretty much the whole interior. Not planning on going back stock though. Wanting to do a full roll cage and tube doors. Custom made bumpers, steps etc.. After getting the body off and tearing into the axles I found there is a lot of play in them. All the braking system and lines needs to be replaced/refurbished. I found a 79 running 4wd blazer with a VERY low mile crate 350 in it for $250!! Picking it up tomorrow. Gonna pull the body and see how hard it will be to fab some new body mounts and put the 72 on the 79 frame. I'm a lot better welder than I am mechanic so this might be the easy way to go for me.....I'll find out. Here is a pick of the 72 after breaking it down.....I have some bigger springs for the rear to get rid of those huge blocks... Last edited by Ranchhand; 05-20-2009 at 08:57 PM. |
