A body lift is the cheapest way to get a few more inches of lift. The only complaint is the bumper gaps. As for the hubs, its not the hubs. Have you pulled the cover off the diff to inspect that? If not I would do that before throwing any more money at it. Also what did the old hubs look like when you pulled them off.

The "hub" problem is more likely a spider gear issue or an axle joint issue. Closer inspection is required.
