Hi Guys

Well I had a wheel bearing go out on my 69 c10 and it took the spindle out with it. So I figured I might as well spend a bit more and up grade to power disc brakes and power steering.

So I picked up the a-arms, spindles, tierods, centerlink, ps gearbox, ps pump, brake booster and mc off a 83 c10. I got all the suspension parts mounted but im not sure what to do about the powersteering pump or the booster.

According to the vin my truck was a 6cyl so im not really sure what motor is in it now. the PO said it was a 305 and after having some trouble getting the right parts, the parts guy said it most likly its a mid 70's motor. Other than that I have no idea

Here is the pump I picked up and my motor.

Can you guys help me figure out what I need to do mount a ps pump? And if this pump wont work which one will?

Also the 83 booster has 6 holes in the bracket that mounts to the firewall and none of them line up with the 4 studs on the firewall. I mean there off by an inch. Plus it seems like it will hit the shift linkage on the steering.
Will this booster work or will I need another one?

i have no idea if the 73-up booster will work........and no clue if 73 up disc stuff will work either,,free bump tho

Anyone have any info on the pump mount or the booster?

Im headed to pick and pull tomorrow im gona try and see if I can find a mount that looks like it will work on my motor.

dont think that the brake booster will work. Unless of course you modify. Be easier to go get the correct one at a parts store and use the one you have as a core. Being that they have rubber parts, no garranty that the one you have is even any good. My 2 cents. Going out and getting a pic for you on the power steering pump.

Here is a pic of my power steering pump. Hard to get good pics because in the truck. First pic of the bracket is where it mounts to the two holes into the block right under the water pump right side looking from radiator. The second pic is where the bracket runs up to the exhaust manifold bolt. Last pic is where it runs behind the pump and fills in the spot between the two pics. Hope it helps. 350 chevy by the way. 72 model brackets.

the booster is not a direct bolt in, youll need to get one from a 71-72 with the correct prop. valve and change the front brake lines as well. as for the pump, it looks like your missing a couple of brackets, you can get those from a junk yard off any mid 70`s sbc

It appears tha you have a long water pump. The pics by jay6891 are for the correct short pump for the 67-72 trucks. I have a 1978 long pump in my truck, and the pump fastens to a boss on the water pump with a long thriugh bolt. Maybe a dismantler will have something from the mid 70's

While you are there at the yard Just pick up a serpentine setup. Take everything RV water pump, Alt, pwr pump, and ac if you need it. All the bolts plus the upper rad hose that will solve all your bracket problems. Then all you need is the correct booster.

Thanks for clearing that up. The pics that I posted are indeed for a short water pump. And He posted a pic of a long pump. Good eye!

Now is there any difference between the long water pump on a truck vs a car? Also what years did they have the long water pump setup I have?

That should give me an idea of what to be looking for.
