6 lug to 5 lug
I know that question has been asked before, but I was wordering if a 73 to 80 chevy truck 5 lug rear end will work in my 69 coil rear end. If I cut all the brackets off the newer rear and weld the pads from ECE to that rear. I know that the rear is wider but is it the same width as a 71 or 72. And will the emergency brakes cables off the 73 up work as well. And one more question are the brake components the same as well.

you should be able to find a 70-72 rear end that is five lug that will work with the coil rear. As far as the brake cables working on the newer axles they should work. as for the break pasd and such I am not sure if they changed or not. I would assume that the would be the same or very simmular.

Yeah you can do that. I put a chrysler disc rear under my truck no problem. Haven't done tha tparking brakes yet, but its just cable, which can easily be adapted. You can also send your 6 lugs and drums to mosers and get them drilled to a 5 lug for 100 + shipping, i'm getting my chrysler drilled sometime soon.
