4 speed transmission
Hi; I'm looking at a '71 Sierra Grande. It now has a 454 w/ a 400 trans. This is all original equip. Well; I have a 4 speed manual trans & acces. from a '73 GM. Will this go in w/o too much customizing? Will I need to change trans mount, & drive shaft? Thanks all.

Re: 4 speed transmission
You need to be more specific about which transmission you actually have. There are lots of them and the answers will vary depending upon which exact one you have.

Re: 4 speed transmission
you can plan on a cross member, drive shaft, possibly cutting a huge hole and replacing the hump on the cab floor, maybe a speedo cable... couple odds and ends

Re: 4 speed transmission
I guess a pedal assembly, Z bar linkages.... that stuff won't be easy to find since most BB trucks were automatics.

Re: 4 speed transmission
someone will post pics I hope.... it is the linkage/pivot point between the clutch pedal assembly, and the arm on the tranny that operates the clutch.

Re: 4 speed transmission
Ohhhh....Now I know what it is! The Truck garage uses units like that for their truck clutches. They're called a BELL CRANK. I think I can get all those accessories through LMC or NAPA. Piece by piece I think I'll be able to get this job done. Thanks guys.
