Oh NO!

I was out at one of the local pull and save yards when I saw this pickup truck bed sitting in between the rows. They were using it to hold tires and wheels. I did a double take when I saw the tool and stowage door on the side. I had to remember one of my favorite sayings. Never attribute to malice what mere stupidity will explain.

Re: Oh NO!

when i first saw the pic, I figured it was a 50th... but the tool box makes it a 70 - 72, so instead of a rare 50th bed, it's a rare bed with a solid lookin tool box door.

Re: Oh NO!

Everything is salvageable with enough time, patience, sheet metal, etc

While the right body man may be able to do something with that... he'd be an idiot to do it.

Re: Oh NO!

My old boss used to say "If it didn't disappear, it can be fixed.....but it's gonna cost".

In reality, in a case like that, you don't repair parts that can be replaced. Some things just have to be repaired because there are no replacement parts available.

Re: Oh NO!

It's to bad they ruined that door, . I'd never seen one of these doors before I came to NM. I have since found 4. One was solid with a little rust in one bottom corner. The last 3 have been rust free. Here's a picture of the latest one I got when I bought a parts truck to get the 402/400 combo for the 68 SWB I'm building for my son. Rust free, nice fiberglass box, all brackets, good handle, nearly perfect wood grain trim, 2 keys, the inside seal is good, it even has the sticker from the factory.......................

Re: Oh NO!

My truck had the option for the tool box, but the retarded po took it out, welded in a piece of sheetmetal and put on about a gallon of bondo in the lower panel, thankfully they make replacement panels for it. The bed that is, not the door :P
