Angry Six Appeal got a typical V8

A friend was looking through CL and sent me this:
http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/cto/1174670625.html
I sold my '67 'Six Appeal' about 2 months ago and the guy mentioned he was going to do the flat black paint job. He never mentioned that he was going to put in a SBC/TH350 combo and yank out the 6. I'm pretty peeved right now. I don't think he'll get $4500 for it right now and he put alot of work for any $$$ he does get. He paid me $3400 for it.

I have this truck that i bought a few months ago and decided that I want a 69-72 blazer instead... So I have replaced the engine with a 283 small block chevy with less than 1000 miles on it, rebuilt the turbo 350 tranny with shift kit, it has new edelbrock carborator, billet hei distributor, huge tranny cooler, 4 core radiator, and drive shaft. It has lowering springs not sure how much but i do have a part # if needed.. It has flowmaster exaust to the muffler ..almost new set of 8" rally wheels... I did some body work and threw some paint on cause it was multi-colored when i bought it.. Asking $4500 obo It is a great project start for someone or a good daily driver as is... Might concider working out a deal for the right 69-72 blazer... NOT interested in any other trades or cars (at least while my wife is around) Have more pics just cant get them to load..

Man most people just dont like 6 cylinders. It is his truck. Maybe you should buy it back and put it back the way it was

Re: Six Appeal got a typical V8

Truck doesn't strike me as a 4500 truck from the pics especially after the comment on him doing body work and primer. That being said, I have been shopping for a couple years and still don't have a truck so I am tighter with my $$$ than most I guess. As far as him putting a V8 in there. I don't think he accomplished to much with a 283 power wise. It was his truck so I don't really see why it should upset you if he put a rotary in it lol.

The 292 is a beast and perfect for a truck where torque is king. I would take the Pepsi challenge of stump pulling vs that v8 any day.

Re: Six Appeal got a typical V8

It was a 250.
I got what I needed out of the sale, and he can take it straight to the nearest cliff if he wants to, but it just bums me out that I put so much effort into it with the engine and transmission mods and he tears out everything that made it unique from all the other run of the mill V8's.

Re: Six Appeal got a typical V8

Maybe he wants the 6 for his proposed project. Sounds like he put the 283 in there to sell it.

x 2. Sixes are different and the one you did up was sweet. I also preferred the calico look as opposed to run-of-the-mill primer he put it in. It is his truck, but I just think it was better before.

Brad, I thought you sold that to a board member in Yakima? I liked the old motor too but still like a 283 in these old trucks...(he says after just selling the 283 out of my truck last week so I can replace it with a 350!)...LOL!

I'll bet he put a red interior into it as well...LOL!

Brad, I hear what you're saying. He just robbed it's personality. It was one of my favorites before, now it's like every other primered/sbc truck.

Re: Six Appeal got a typical V8

Yeah it is very sad Brad.

Your old truck is what gave me inspiration to do my 6 cylinder instead of the standard V-8 engine swap.

Will post pictures once I get my truck back from the body shop.

Which I can't wait until it's done to start to play with it!

Re: Six Appeal got a typical V8

That is a shame. One of the things I loved about the truck was the 250/5spd combo. I wished I had gone that route back in the day compared to what I have now (350/700R).

I do, however, like the flat black and white. Unfortunately for him, in the current "market", being that it's only primer, it looks like a 3K-3.5K truck to me...

BUT, you never know, I remember from your threads that the truck is extremely solid and straight. That scores big points with me. He might get 4.5K if he finds the right buyer.

Unhappy Re: Six Appeal got a typical V8

Condolences Brad. Six Appeal was one of the family here and will be sorely missed in it's former glory.
Let's hope it's history follows it through to the new owner and we will see it resurrect here on the board.

And I agree with CG: "Maybe someone should call him...might have a sweet deal on a 6"...

Re: Six Appeal got a typical V8

looks like he lowered the value of the truck, I dont like primered trucks for sale, seems like people are trying to hide things, either leave it alone, or get it painted! You put a lot of work on that 6, and made it unique..

I would agree, maybe he will sell you the 6 back cheap!
