what's the best place to get a front disc conversion from?

Ok, I've decided to move forward with the front disc conversion on my 67 c10 1/2 ton. I've done some homework and have found a few places online. Prices range from 500-1300.00 I'm thinking that i'll do the entire front suspension while i'm in there as well. Does anyone have any place that they would recommend for a front disc conversion? I know that ECE has them but they are a bit pricey..

thanks,
Chris

depends if your truck is complete with the motor still installed etc. alot of people install 71 -72 complete front crossmembers and rear ends, and you could even use 73-87 chevy truck front, and rear (need to modify spring perches for coil rearend.

the big question is how much do you want to spend, and do you want new parts, or do you want to hit the boneyard/auto recycler?

Re: what's the best place to get a front disc conversion from?

I'M thinking that I will probably go new... I'm going to be replacing the entire front suspension with all new components so might as well go all the way. I don't want to break the bank though. I've seen some kits for 1200 or 1400..

thanks,
Chris

I also meant to say that I'd ideally like the booster on here as well... I know that they have 11" ones for the 67.

Re: what's the best place to get a front disc conversion from?

I actually enjoy the challenge of doing things the hard way, so I use a late model donor and rebuild that from local parts store sources.

On my current truck, I got a 100 dollar late model front end off of Craigslist and added new ball joints, bushings, tie rod ends, calipers, pads, etc from the local parts store and Summit.

It was more work, but the final product is much nicer than a kit and the savings are significant.

Re: what's the best place to get a front disc conversion from?

I'm personally looking at the ones from CPP, they now have spindles that don't mess with the spacing of the wheel in relation to the inner fender, which is great. I like that their kits come quite complete and they can sell new ball joints, arms, or whatever else you might need.

Re: what's the best place to get a front disc conversion from?

i just installed one of those kits on a 70 chevy truck. the only problem i had was with the calipers they sent me. they leaked around the banjo bolt. iwas having problems with there customer service and ended up buying autozone calipers. I also ended up putting spacers on the front because the front wheels scrubbed. the kit itself was a good kit. as soon as iget the camera working i will post some pics.
