newbee from indy, looking for info..

Hello, I am brand new here and have wanted a 68-72 for a while and thought I would start looking and begin gathering information.
I am an old Vette hound and have decent skiils to the point of doing just about everything except paint and rebuild engines and transmissions. so I know my way around cars and mechanicals to a good degree.

where do I start? Are there books out there to buy and read... do I just study up on this forum? where do I find info on what options and vin tag decoding and also info on market prices and how good a buy that any truck may be?

my current mode of thought is to buy the best truck I can get and use it for a daily driver.. I dont require a great degree of authenticity or original parts. I have been watching EBAY for months and have seen them go for 20K and some for 1K.. So maybe I should start at 10K.

any direction would be appreciated!
