hey guys, just wondering whats the best way to lift my 2wd Gmc with coils all around? I heard on here you can use Jeep tj coils, but can anyone confirm such things? any helps is greatly appreciated

Hi there, I'm new here today and just posted a question about the same thing in the suspension forum. I didn't see your question. I would like to do the same thing with my 72 GMC 2 wheel drive Suburban and want to know if I can go 4" lift without having to change anything like brake lines, etc.

use the springs for a 3/4 ton. my dad put 3/4 ton rear coils on his 72 suburban 1/2 ton for trailer towing duties and it made the truck sit like a drag racer (tail high) after that! i'd put base 3/4 ton springs on the front and the bad boy hd optional springs for a 3/4 ton in the back! my 72 burb is already a 3/4 ton and the standard rear coils are starting to settle a bit in the back. in the future i will swap in a pair of the hd rear springs.

Hey man, thanks for the advice. I'll go that route. I just need a little lift all the way around. I'll get the 3/4 ton springs. Question, are the HD 3/4 springs for the back a little longer than the regular 3/4 ton springs. I want it level, not higher in the back. For level, should I just get the 3/4 ton springs all the way around and NOT the HD for the back?

the springs are usually stiffer, not taller. but the effect is it sits higher, especially on a lighter 1/2 ton vehicle. my dad put brand new 3/4 ton springs on the back of his 72 (not sure if they were regular or hd) and the original 1/2 ton front springs were already nearly 15 years old at the time. it looked awesome and sat nice even with our heavy trailer hitched up. my 3/4 ton has 1-2 inches of rake which looks good but i wish it was just a bit more. to each his own, but i hate the leveled look....it seems most cars come that way from the factory. from certain angles it makes the back end seem like its sagging and thats with no cargo loaded up. i like the camper special approach....super rugged out back! i think 3/4 ton springs would give you a 2-3 inch lift maybe on a 1/2 ton truck. you could also go with the optional 1/2 ton front springs and standard 3/4 ton rear springs. you don't need too much stiffness on the front on a 1/2 ton. lmc carries some of these springs in pairs...good prices.
