Another Disc Swap Question

So Im looking at getting a 71 front end disc suspension to swap onto my 67. I know the cross member and all will fit onto my truck. My question is, is it possible to put 6 lug rotors onto it? If so, what kind of rotors do I need and what needs to be done to make it work? I really wanna stay 6 lug but want the discs. And I don't wanna pay an arm and a leg for the 6 lug front disc kit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I was looking into the same thing. There are 6 lug hub/rotors sold by most suppliers that will fit in the spindle. As Tx Firefighter mentioned in he topic I posted a week back, going to discs in the front will widen the track so that it is 1.5" wider than the rear 6 lug differential. You can make up for this with wheel backspacing.

Oh ok. Thanks. So if I do that and then do drop spindles and lowering springs, Im gonna be at a 3" wider track than the rear???

No, 1.5 inch wider in the front. Just run some 7 inch wheels in the front and 8s in the rear and forget about it.

I thought when you lowered with the drop spindles and springs, that it widens the track width also?

Any time you convert from drum to disc in the front, whether drop spindles or stock spindles, you widen the track. That's why GM went to the wider rearend in 71, because the disc brakes in the front made the front track wider.

I have heard that CPP has some new spindles that do not widen the track width, but I have read way too many horror stories about CPP service to give them any consideration myself.

Im looking at picking up a wider rear axle. Can anyone tell the the width of the wider rear axle? Also, will I be able to swap out my posi into the wider rear axle? And what is the average price of one? Thanks. Ive got a guy who says that he has one in a 70 panel and one in a 71 pickup.

On a side note, if I add disc brakes to my current rear axle, will it widen the rear track width? Thanks

If it is a 3.73, since the one you currently have is a 3.73, you should be ok. and what is the average price of one? $150 -$500 thanks.
