changing from Carb to fuel injection

Does anyone know how easy it is to change the 350 from the carb to the fuel injection

If you have to ask...you prolly shouldn't do it.
An 87 up parts truck would make it easy-ier.

well i am going to probably stick with the carb the injection systems is a little pricey right now for me.

You could do it cheaper if you just wanted to go to TBI from junkyard parts but there wouldn't be much advantage to that. Carbs are definitely cheaper than a complete aftermarket kit.

ok well thanks for the reply but i have my carb getting looked at right now. Hopefully i will hear in the next couple of days that it is going to be a cheap fix.

I would not trade my injection setup for a brand new carb of any brand, period.
It starts right up in the morning idles perfect and I have gain a total of three mpg since I got it dailed in. That is 17 mpg with a 86 K-10 (well 16.7 really)
It is a little time consuming going from a carb to tbi but I did mine for around 350.00. Thats with a used harness, stock tbi, intake etc. the only thing on my set-up that is new is the fuel lines and the pump. everything else is used stock 1990 suburban tbi set up. If its a daily driver I understand if time is a problem but if you can be with out it for a little while, it is totally worth the time invested. My two cents.

ALOT easier so work on...ya don't really need any special tools....you can tune them just the way you want without the need for chips or tuners and alot cheaper to beef it up...theres just a few reasons lol

While it is true to hop a tbi motor up does take a little more time and money you can't beat the dead solid reliabilty of a tbi motor.
Also I would have to say that I have not bought any special tools to work on this system. All you really need is the basic tools ( maybe you will need a volt meter). You really do not need a scan tool for tbi it is really self explanatory. There is a TON of stuff about this system on the net.

Well i got the carb checked and it turned out to be fine. the problem was the camshaft is over sized for the engine i have 350 and the owner before me put a off road performance camshaft on it an it is not getting enough vacuum and it needs a timing adjustment...but thanks for the help guys.

Check craigslist.org and look for used TPI systems. I've seen them go for around 350 with the harness included(down here in Texas). You may also want to check the "for sale" section on Thirdgen.org...plenty of TPI info and parts on that site. There may be an issue with the intake though something about 87+ heads or not, but I'm sure it was a small issue that could be dealt with easily.

well in reality.. when doing "extreme" anything the fuel injection will be much mroe reliable..
the gas mileage improvement is incredible..
and there's just a whole new world with injection.. so many things you can do differently and have fun with..
i wish i was allowed to get fuel injection...

Yeah there was nothing wrong with the TBI system, but the heads that came
on TBI engines are Very restrictive, worse than 305 heads.

The TBI heads were designed for fuel economy and low end torque. TBI is hard to make a lot of power with in part because of the small flow rate of the throttle body. I think 570 cfm. For the purpose it was designed for, TBI is one of the simplest and most reliable fuel injection systems made. If you jump a couple terminals in the diagnostic link the check engine light will flash the trouble codes.
