I guess I blew it on this. When I removed the old bushings ahead of sandbasting and powdercoating, I didn't realize the outer steel of the bushing needed to come out:

My question is this: if I remove the outer steel shell of the new bushing, what are the odds of being able to press the new rubber into the old outer shell?

Or should I just bite the bullet and get the old ones out of my freshly powdercoated trailing arms?

Don't try and remove the shell, the rubber is bonded to it on the new bushing, I've tried it before on my Chevelle bushings and it wasn't pretty.

You could press/beat out the old shell with little worry if you put masking tape on the arm, but for $14 I would upgrade to poly from energy suspensions.
