I have a 63 chevy truck with 71 camaro 350 camaro engine on it. Im putting a scoop on through the hood, so I was trying to put something shiny and cool. I've seen 700cmf 650, and 600. There is a super cool 750 cmf that has enduro shine. is that too big? The guy selling it said it made his truck too sluggish, like it was flooding or something like that.

Well my question really is what is the biggest carb I can put on my truck with the engine 350 I got out of a 71 camaro?

It really depends on what goodies you have in the engine. Here's a couple examples: My '63 C10 has a bone stock 350. It's a run of the mill crate engine. I have a 600 cfm Edelbrock 4 bbl on it and it is just fine. My '71 also has a bone stock 350, and it's also running great with a 600 cfm Edelbrock 4bbl. In both cases I have great throttle response on these motors, no hesitations, flooding, or any issues at all. If you have a big cam and other goodies in the engine then you will want a bigger carb. I would say no bigger than 700 cfm if the engine is stock though. Just my opinion from my experiences with my putt-putt daily drivers.

^^^^^ Same - Same ^^^^^ on my 65' Chevelle: 0 to 100 MPG (indicated - when I thought the front end was going to fall off) perfectly smooth.

dang Mac you get 100 MPG with a '65 Chevelle? the auto makers are doing something wrong

I have heard no more than 2cfm per cubic inch... 350ci X 2cf = 700cfm max for a stock-ish 350

You can run a 750 on a basically stock 350 no problem. Make sure it is a vacuum secondary carb though, not a mechanical secondary.

You will be much happier with a 600 cfm carb though. They may not look as impressive, but they perform better on a 350.

I'm running a 750 on close to a 400HP 350. If you get a smaller carb and it's not right you can always jet it out. I had a 625 demon on it that was jetted to the largest jets it would take.

The CFM is going to give you RPM capability.....there's a formula to figure that out.....I'd have to look for it.

Regardless of the CFM size of the carb, you may need to change jets, powervalves, accelerator pump cams, etc for your engine to run correctly(proper amount of fuel).

With that said I would have to agree that you would be best off to go with a 600-625CFM carb for your 350. It will more than likely be real close to correct for your engine. That will give you more than enough RPM capability for a 350 and you can 'tune' the carb to suit your engine if needed.

These are the two adds I was looking at:

Demon 625 cfm with electric choke. $175

Mallory Ignition, Unilite Breakerless Distributor Part number 3748201. Comes with extra module and wiring diagram. Works with Chevrolet 283, 327 and 350 engines. Ready to install, very good condition. Asking $75.00 OBO.

Theres a guy selling a Demon, it looks pretty cool. I really want the shinny finish, so it will match the polished scoop thats gonna go through the hood. The reason I was asking was there was an edelbrock 750 with enduro shine for 175 also. Thats pretty much all I can spend with out my wife tripping and wanting to divorce me over my truck. She was already tripping cause I was looking at a Mallory Distributor for 75 bucks.

its kinda one of those things.. if you have to ask.. stick with a 600. who cares about endurashine anyways... just get a shiny air cleaner!

That demon is what i was running on my motor. It was jetted out, and I have a built motor and it was running good. I think you would be really happy with it. Mine needs a new power valve. I dont know how much they cost. I would sell you mine for about $100

Holley has a carb size calculator on their web site . Just enter your info and it'll tell you the optimum size carb for your application .
