So I got a buddy who wants to trade me a lift kit for swapping his bed. So I want to mesue first and ,make sure it is a 4 inch. Can I just measure the rear block? It should be what 4 inches high right?? Also will I notice a diffrance? My truck is a Heavy half/ Big ten model with the heavy duty front/ rear springs. It sits pretty high stock.

I know a novice question but I am new to the whole lifting thing.

Oh and I will be ditching the rear blocks for a shackle flip

If you are ditching the rear block, what does it matter how tall it is? I think the shackle flip will give you more than 4", but I could be wrong.

It matters because this would help me determine how big the lift kit is. The front has lift leaf springs so I would think measuring the rear lifting block would tell me how much the entire kit is. It is installed on a truck currently and I want to make sure it is 4 inch before taking it apart.

The shackle flip is this in case anyone is curious.

Measuring the block would be a good starting point. Although, if there is a chance that the other truck had a spring swap at the same time? If 3/4 or 1 ton springs were swapped on, it could be taller then 4" Take a look at my truck in the picture for example. I am basically in the same deal as you, got a lift that I didn't know anything about, and just put it on. it still has the 4" blocks in the rear at the moment, so I could check the height and rake, but at the moment, I believe the rear is about an inch higher then I woud realistically like it, which makes me believe the springs I got could differ from a 1/2 ton. So my moral of the story is start with the measurement, but there is a chance its different. You may want to take the rear springs from the other truck just in case.

yea I know it does, more then I want I think... I may go with a 3" block to compensate, but that won't be decided for a little while. Have to tidy up a few things, and take of the interior, then I will get that taken care of for the final details. I also need some sort of mudflaps to keep the paint on the bottom of the truck to.
