bagging the rear for a manuel system

hey guys i am planing on one day doing a full air ride system in my 70 chevy but can not afford it as of now. im thinking of bagging the rear for now with a manuel system using shrader valves. i found a set of firestone bags and i am going to be welding in my c notch. my question is later in life to turn the system into a full air kit all i would need is compressors and tank correct? im not looking to lay frame i just want a good stance.

aldo soes anyone have pictures of a manuel system in the rear. just so i can get some ideas

yes if want it adjustable on the fly (w/o manual fills) all you would need are valves, tank and compressors. Oh and a few switches

Pretty simple to do. Bolt the bags in place of the springs and run the line. Your best bet is to run separate lines and two schrader valves so you can control the bags separately.

could always put a portable air tank with you,could get one drop and one lift out of it

a few things I just learned doing mine ...when you drill the top hole for the air line there is a bracket that kinda gets in the way.....so have a 90* air fitting or a T with the t your going to have to block one end for now but you can use it when you add an air guage to feed it so you can see how much air in each bag...... there are a few holes in the frame near the bumper which you can mount the schrader or pull one bolt out of the corner of the bed and put it there.....just so you know I run about 45 psi for ride height in the rear of my truck.......
now if your cheap like me then I would cup the lower A arms and skip the drop spindles to save some cash..heres a link to help you out also the front shock # you need after doing this is monroe 5752

PS the drop on my truck (top pic) is sitting about 1 1/2" high its sitting on stock shocks and they hold me up I'm waiting for the monroes to come in and it gets my header collecors about 1/4" off the ground and you can still go from stop to stop with the steering wheel....just make sure its flat...lol

hottrucks, what kind of notch do you have in the back? im going to lowes and getting a 5 inch id steel pipe and gona cut in half and weld in the frame. im also still using the stock 2 link in the rear im not trying to lay frame i just want a full bed to haul stuff and look good doing it

a full bed is not going to happen anything above a 2" c notch and the rear pumpkin is going to hit the bed Ummm trust me I did the same kind of notch...also watch your steel brakes lines your going to pinch them I'll pm my # and walk you throough it if you like call me before 9 pmish

i jsut bought a adjustable one off here part of me wants to just cut up the bed and do a full bridge in the rear i have till monday to figure out what i am going to do

Here's my before and after , riding on 22x12's , rear bags on schrader valves , I've finally got a decent ride height , now for the front !! Cheers Ray
