I was intending on a 1.5" crossmember section, is that too much, why just 1.25?

Now I have a couple more questions:

What rack do I get? Ive heard of getting one from a local parts store, just from what application?

I know I dont have to run ART arms, who else makes arms for our trucks? and do I need uppers and lowers?

and just what the heck is a "torsion style" bag mount?

Thanks again for all of the help guys!
with a rack 1.5" is fine.

no clue on what rack, but probably a 88-91ish t-bird

I'd say yes you need tube arms, and art arms are the best I've used.

torsion mount is just a flat plate mount made for vehicles without a spring pocket, go to suicidedoors and check them out.

Re: Lay out on 24's?

Heres a link to where they SF bodydropped my buddys truck and it lays rockers on 22/24s. He went with the 22/24 combo because 24s up front meant cutting into the firewall along with modifing hood hinges etc....

Re: Lay out on 24's?

dumb question, but wouldnt a dropmember help a lot of this by pushing the wheels forward a little. i know it isnt much, but wont it give you that clearence for the firewall?

You can also make the Z cut at an angle(slide the c-member section up and forward) to center the wheel.

yes, but it's not as easy as you might think. engine stands, steering components, brake lines, transmission mounts, radiator clearance, oil pan clearance, drive shaft length... just some things to think about.

Not to say it can't be done... cause it can.

Re: Lay out on 24's?

if u havent looked at those pics that 1sik52 put up do it. i really think it will help u. this truck lays rocker and is bad a$$. it will take a little more work to get 24's up front but not that much. if im not mistaking its a 3.5" z and he used 2x4 to get it to the rocker. i have followed this truck on another forum and have seen it in person. trust me its right.

you can but you have to do equal angles on the front and rear cuts so that that frame shortens before the crossmember and lengthens after. Its kind of tricky to get right.

I'd slide the body on the frame honestly and set the rear end correct with the bed with the 4 link.

Re: Lay out on 24's?

ya know.. not to troll..
but you asked for advice.. and a very reputable admin guy responds.. and in my opinion he diddnt do it harshly..
he just did not sugar cote it...
honestly it took a few minutes of reading to even understand what in the world you were even talking about..
soo please dont lash out at other board members because you made a mistake in the assumption that we can all read your mind and/or underlying meaning in sarcasm and personal jokes...

it is not appreciated.. by anyone.. to include third parties and honestly it ruins the thread for alot of people who would have been willing to respond "correctly" in the first place.

good luck on your build

My truck it laidout on 24's, with a Z, drop spindles and stock control arms. Biggest thing we made custom hinges for the hood, it wasnt that bad
