Painless Harness, where to put the ECM? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I'm installing a Painless harness in my '72 Blazer and I need to install the ECM but I don't want to put it in the way of something else so I'm looking for any tips on where to put it.

I was thinking behind the gauge console under the dash....but not sure if that is a good spot or not.

Wires are really long enough to put it behind the glove compartment.

Anyone done this already that can give me the benefit of that experience?

I have mine stuffed up above the heater controlls, there was an "open" area up there on mine.

I've been wondering the same thing. I'm getting ready to start wiring the MPFI up and was gonna ask you where you put yours.

I have a customer with a 57 Chevy. LS2,6 speed trans, SMOKIN HOT high dollar ride. The builders put the pcm under the dash, on top of the heater /a/c hoses. I do not reccommed putting it somewhere wher you could not have easy access to it in case of a failure. IN the 57, I will have to discharge the A/C, remove the heater hoses, etc to get it out.
My money would be in the glove box. You have a big center console to keep your stuff. You could also put it in the engine compartment? Think that might be kind of hokey, though. Maybe under the drivers seat

I will be puting mine under the glove box liner. It seems to be about the only place I can hide it from sight, and still have it accesable. And being my wheeling truck, hopfuly above the water line.

Ya, I didn't relly 'mount' it, it is just stuffed up in there..it's been a while but I may have used a zipp tie to keep it from floppin around..Someday I plan on rewireing my whole truck..gut the inside repair the floors...wow too much

I posted in your build thread before I saw this one, sorry for the repeat.

I also used a Painless harness for my ECM and had enough length to mount it on the firewall behind the glove box, which I cut down for future access.

If it reaches the gauge cluster area, seems like it should reach the glove box area...
